Stolen Dead Music are a bit of a conundrum for me in that they sound like many bands but are refreshing at the same time. Title track ‘Jacob Eats Dog’ with its heavy bass and the way the track comes across puts you in mind of The Stranglers but heavier and faster. The beat is excellent and the vocal style is very good. There is a slight American feel to this which is no bad thing and second track ‘Sit in Silence’ is much rockier and has a cool riff running throughout.
‘Broken Record’ was the favourite and the breakdowns with the bass reminded me of Setting Sons era Jam. Sign off track is the super-chilled ‘Just Got Back’ and in fairness the most original sounding of the tracks. The range of influences is very evident but the band make every track enjoyable nonetheless. Looking forward to more and seeing what direction they take.
