Empire Warning are a fine metal band and if this EP is anything to go by then people are going to start taking notice. ‘Heil To The Rat King’ is blistering, from the guitar intro right through to the production values. It took a bit of time to warm to the vocal but all was good by the time the chorus hit. An excellent guitar solo coupled with a driving rhythm make this track a stand out but the same cannot be said for ‘Stuck.’ There is nothing here that we haven’t heard before and given the other three tracks on offer this felt like a bit of a letdown.
‘Take From Me’ though grabs the attention from the very first note and is definitely the pick of the bunch. Deep deep bass guitar and drums with a brilliant melody and a good breakdown. ‘Verge Of Insanity’ put me in mind a bit of Venom in terms of the vocal but is yet again an excellent track. Great riffs and a breakneck thunderous speed in delivery. Empire Warning are a class act and this is a great offering. For them to really stand out, their bar is set at ‘Take From Me.’ More of the same, please.
