WildSpiritz IMS MUSIC REVIEW - HARDLAND - IN CONTROL

The band makes modern-day rock music and mixes it, in their own unique way, with the amazing characteristics of the 70’s and ’80s.

HARDLAND

‘IN CONTROL’

‘In Control’ opens with the first single ‘Nations Biggest Enemies’ which is a hard hitting look at everything that is wrong in the world today. Dutch band Hardland are naturally melodic and second track in take on the Tubeway Army hit ‘Are Friends Electric’ and to be fair make a very good job of it. Back to original songs though and ‘The Powers Within’ is a synth laden belter with great guitar and excellent vocals. There is a slight accent to the vocal style but this lends itself very well to the music on offer. ‘Rise and Shine’ is a very retro feeling track and one of the best on offer. Synth driven with a thumping beat its one that stays with you. ‘Haunted’ ‘Dazzled By The Presence Of Love’ and ‘Pleasure and Pain’ are all standouts.

Eyebrows were raised when it came to ‘Love, Love, Love’ which is a modern day Beatles track in its conception and very good indeed. ‘Still Dreaming’ is by far the favourite. Another synth laden thumper of a track and vocally storming. Its all rounded off with the excellent ‘Last Goodbye’ which is rifftastic and the perfect way to sign off. Hardland are yet another example of just how much quality music there is in the Netherlands at the moment. Great stuff.
